Since we last highlighted the South Shore Trail, Phase Two in Odenton has moved into its final stretch. DFI is providing Construction Management and Inspection services for the 1.7-mile segment between Sappington Station Road and Holladay Park Road at Bonheur Avenue, where Anne Arundel County is building a 10-foot-wide, ADA accessible asphalt trail largely within County right of way. The work includes retaining walls, stormwater facilities, landscaping, a boardwalk section, and a new 100-foot prefabricated pedestrian bridge that required careful planning around overhead utilities and a very tight staging area.
Pictured is the pedestrian bridge delivered to the site on November 13 and installed just before Thanksgiving, the team is now focused on finishing touches and getting this new connection ready for the community.
Phase Two is being delivered in concurrent segments along the former Washington, Baltimore & Annapolis Railroad corridor, threading a comfortable shared-use route through Odenton neighborhoods while minimizing grading and tree clearing in sensitive areas. Once all phases are built, the South Shore Trail will plug local paths into the Odenton Town Center network and connect to larger regional and national trail systems, including the WB&A Trail, the East Coast Greenway, and the American Discovery Trail.
