DFI provided comprehensive construction management and inspection services for the Crownsville Fire Station (also known as Herald Harbor Fire Station), a new facility designed to serve the 3rd Election District of Anne Arundel County. Located at 1332 Sunrise Beach Road in Crownsville, Maryland, the station includes multiple operational spaces: four drive-thru bays, sleeping quarters, lockers, a kitchen, and communication rooms. The building incorporates full sprinkler protection and achieves LEED® Silver certification, meeting the county's High Performance Building requirements.
Beyond the primary structure, the project encompassed extensive site development work, including parking areas, stormwater management systems, landscaping, and utility infrastructure. Since the property lacks county water and sewer services, the project required installation of a private water well and septic system, as well as connections for natural gas, electricity, telecommunications, and a backup generator. BGE relocated utility poles and extended gas service to accommodate the facility's operational needs.
DFI brought substantial expertise to the project, drawing on their extensive experience with eight other fire stations throughout Anne Arundel County, including Galesville, Harmans Dorsey, Jacobsville, Lake Shore, Marley, Severn, Annapolis Neck, and South Glen Burnie fire stations. This proven track record in fire station construction ensured the project met all regulatory requirements and operational standards specific to emergency response facilities.
