DFI Project Spotlight - Davidsonville Salt Barn

DFI Project Spotlight - Davidsonville Salt Barn

This project represents a significant upgrade to essential winter maintenance infrastructure in Anne Arundel County. Work includes the demolition of the existing 50’ x 70’ Salt Barn and construction of a new, expanded 80’ x 80’ facility designed to improve operational capacity and efficiency.

In addition to the new structure, the project incorporates a stormwater management micro‑bioretention basin, site grading, pavement replacement, and new landscape plantings that enhance both functionality and site appearance. Vegetative stabilization, storm drainage improvements, and comprehensive electrical upgrades—including new interior and exterior lighting, ensuring the facility is modern, safe, and built to perform for years to come.

As with all salt barns, this project requires a highly specialized approach. These facilities must safely store thousands of tons of corrosive material while withstanding harsh winter conditions, heavy equipment traffic, and repeated loading operations.

The Davidsonville Salt Barn is a unique blend of heavy civil, structural, and environmental expertise that, when completed, will play a critical role in public safety, built to perform for decades.
