Certain federal and state mandates require that local governments implement water quality improvements. DFI serviced Baltimore County with inspection for the Scott’s Level Stream Restoration (Lower Reach) project. The purpose for this project is to reduce stream bank erosion, filter pollutants, and help stabilize the stream banks.
Some of the problems that DFI encountered were Fine sediment buildup, log and debris jams, and erosion. Solutions to these issues included the implementation of rock walls along the bank, floodplain and channel bed re-grading, wetland restoration and outfall repairs, and the removal of all debris.
