A ribbon-cutting ceremony signified the opening of the new Marley Fire Station in Glen Burnie. Known as Station 18, the Marley Fire Station was estimated as a 14 month project but it was actually completed two months ahead of schedule and $500,000 under budget.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department applied for and was granted federal stimulus money through FEMA to assist in the construction of the project. DFI coordinated with the federal oversight and was responsible for additional record/documentation keeping.
This project had an emphasis on environmentally safe materials such as LEED® lighting, solar technology, and bio retention stormwater management facilities. Marley Fire Station includes three drive thru bays, sleeping areas, a kitchen, engine bays, and offices.
DFI was awarded the CMAA 2013 Project Achievement Award for Marley Fire Station (Construction Management Association of America).
