DFI is looking for a part-time administrative assistant for the design area. Responsibilities will include preparing letters, forms for submittals, running prints and getting packages prepared, filling and tracking of job status, red lining of plans for as-builts. The applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with neat handwriting. The person needs to be well organized, willing to learn, and motivated. The position will also include some errands, ie county drop offs or pickups, having a car and valid driver’s license is a must.

DFI has an ongoing contract with the Maryland Transportation Authority (MdTA).

DFI provides inspection and project management for the MdTA. Our assigned staff consists of areawide as well as project specific engineers, specific construction technicians, and several inspectors of specialized expertise. The projects with MdTA vary in location and span the entire length of MdTa's right of way. These projects include highway and bridge construction, roadway maintenance, facilities maintenance, and ITS/security projects. DFI is responsible for construction management and inspection, material testing, and record keeping.

Highlighted Projects

I-95 (Section 100)

  • Roadway realignments and adjustments
  • Construction of numerous bridges
  • Demolition of existing structures
  • HMA paving
  • Oversight of undermining of NB I-95 to include the installation of soldier piles, sheeting, shoring and caissons

Ft. McHenry Tunnel

  • Hydro-blasting and concrete patching of sub-tunnel
  • Installation of HVAC in 20 toll booths and rewiring of existing electric circuits
  • Tie in of thermostats to fit the desired temperatures during winter months
  • Coordination with toll supervisors and MdTA engineers

Bridge Deck Reconstruction I-95/I-395

  • Rehabilitation of 53 bridges
  • Milling of deck surfaces
  • Placement of latex modified deck overlay
  • Repairs to bridge abutements, piers and expansion joints
