Currently, Development Facilitators, Inc. (DFI) is providing construction management and inspection (CM&I) services and material testing for Phase II of the Broadneck Peninsula Trail project, located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
DFI provided CM&I services, as well as material testing for Phase I of the project. In addition, the company monitored compliance of two 1,400-foot spurs, which connect the trail to the Broadneck Library and Walnut Road Drive, along Cape Street and Claire Road. The company also provided specialty inspections, which included traffic signalization, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant crosswalks, ramps and pavement markings, which met state highway administration requirements, as well as the installations of a storm drainage system to improve water quality. DFI provided detailed coordination of existing Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Comcast, Verizon and Broadstrip conflicts and relocations.
The project was constructed using federal funds administrated by the Maryland State Highway Administration (MdSHA). Material testing and materials clearance had to meet compliance with the county and MdSHA specifications.
Once completed, the total length of this biker-hiker trail is nine miles and connects the Baltimore and Annapolis (B&A) Trail with Sandy Point State Park. The American Hiking Society has included the trail as part of the American Discovery Trail, which extends from California to Delaware. Currently, the trail is a mile long and 10-foot-wide and is used for an array of activities.
