Project description

The Mount Hope Convenience Center is a solid waste management facility in Calvert County, Maryland. The project included site development in an operational facility and within the same footprint as the operational facility, which demanded constant coordination and communication.

DFI provided Construction Management and Inspection (CM&I) services for the Mount Hope Convenience Center. The project included over 20,000 cubic yards of excavation, construction of 600 linear feet of concrete retaining wall and mass grading with identification and removal of unsuitable soils. Project work included the partial replacement with off-site select and partial use of geogrid for subgrade improvements, paving and milling (heavy and intermediate duty), concrete paving and pads, and underground and at-grade Storm Water Management (SWM) facilities. Additional work included micro-bioretention structures, a one (1)-story office and administration building, ramps and landings and curb and gutter, as well as landscaping.

Off-hour and night construction operations were implemented to ensure the facility remained open to the public without change to the schedule. Our expertise was crucial in claims avoidance through impeccable record keeping and documentation, as well as the identification of fraudulent quantity and cost reporting.
